The 2023 District Council Ordinary Election is now in progress.

Polling stations in different districts of Hong Kong were ready for electors to cast their votes. At 9:15 am today, the Chief Executive, John Lee, and his wife went to the polling station of the Raimondi College of Mid-levels to cast their votes. When meeting the media after voting, Lee commented the voting process was "smooth, fast and orderly".

Lee said that the Election is of great importance to all citizens because every voter lives in one of the 18 districts. He further pointed out that every member of the public would like to have a more convenient way to go to work and school, a more convenient station in the future, better hygiene in the districts they visit every day, better garbage disposal, or even more thoughtful recreational and cultural facilities in their daily life. "All these can be reflected to the Government through different Members," he noted.

Lee also said that DC Members elected in the Election after the improvement of the district governance system would be in line with the overall interests of Hong Kong and would also take care of the interests of the districts, as they are all patriotic DC members participating in serving the community together.
