A theft occurred at Pentecostal School on Perth Street in Ho Man Tin yesterday (Nov. 4). During an inventory check of electronic equipment, the school discovered that 58 iPads, 4 laptops including MacBooks, 1 camera, and 1 camera lens had been stolen, with the total value of the missing items amounting to about HK$287,000. Following preliminary investigations, police have classified the case as theft, assigned it to the Fourth Team of the Kowloon City District Crime Investigation Unit for follow-up, and are hunting for a former male employee suspected of involvement.
The incident came to light at 9:22 am yesterday when the school reported the theft of a batch of electronic equipment. After preliminary accounting by police, the total value of the stolen items was confirmed at about HK$287,000. It is understood that the school purchased the stolen electronic equipment in September this year and stored it in a locked IT room on campus. The procurement and daily management of the equipment had previously been handled by a male staff member who resigned last month; he was also one of the custodians of the IT room key.
After the man left his post, the IT staff who took over conducted an inventory of the school's equipment and discovered that a large batch of electronic devices was missing, prompting an immediate police report. Police are now hunting for the former employee.
