President Trump said on Nov. 3 that the war in Iran was partially to blame for the Republican Party's performance in the midterm elections.
In a phone interview with US media, Trump acknowledged that Iran was one of the factors behind the results. But he maintained that people understood the importance of how he had handled the Iran issue, which he argued would matter more historically than the election night itself.
Trump also said the Democrats had performed well in the midterms, but insisted he would not view the outcome as his personal defeat, noting that his name was not on the ballot. He said he was somewhat surprised by the results, but had no plans to reshuffle his cabinet, and would work with Democrats on many fronts.
