Chinese tennis star Zheng Qinwen will make her debut at the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open this year, while American legend Venus Williams will return to the tournament to compete in both singles and doubles.

The WTA 250 tournament will be held at Victoria Park Tennis Center Court from Oct. 31 to Nov. 8, with total prize money exceeding US$280,000.

Zheng, who won women's singles gold at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, returned to form this year after elbow surgery sidelined her for much of the second half of 2025. She reached the quarterfinals of the US Open before winning the China Open earlier this month, claiming her sixth WTA Tour singles title and becoming the first Chinese player to win the WTA 1000 event.

The 23-year-old, who reached a career-high world No. 4 in June 2025, said she was looking forward to competing in front of HK fans for the first time and finishing her 2026 season in the city.

Williams, a seven-time Grand Slam singles champion, will make her return to the HK tournament after previously competing in the event three times. The 46-year-old has won 49 career titles, including five Wimbledon singles titles and two US Open singles titles.

She will also compete in doubles alongside China's Xu Yifan, currently ranked world No. 24 in doubles. Williams has won 14 Grand Slam women's doubles titles with her sister Serena Williams, as well as two Grand Slam mixed doubles titles.

Williams said she was excited to return to HK, recalling fond memories of playing in the city a decade ago and expressing her appreciation for the support of local fans.

The Hong Kong Tennis Open is part of the WTA Tour's China swing and has won the WTA 250 Tournament of the Year award three times, in 2018, 2024 and 2025.

Tickets are priced from HK$180 to HK$1,070 and are available through the tournament's official ticketing platform. A 50 percent discount on Category 2 tickets is available to people aged 18 or below, full-time students and seniors aged 60 or above.
