Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said on Oct. 12 that Iran is reviewing the latest U.S. views submitted in response to Iran's position, and will convey its views to the mediator immediately after the review is completed. He stressed that Iran's conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz remain unchanged.
Baghaei made the remarks at a regular press conference that day, and elaborated on the latest U.S. response conveyed through the mediator. The U.S. response concerns Iran's recent proposal to stop hostilities and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
On Sept. 22, during the general debate of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, Iran held talks with the U.S. through mediator Qatar and conveyed its conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz to the U.S. side.
Baghaei said Iran and the U.S. are still exchanging information through the mediator. He listed some of Iran's conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, including the U.S. Navy lifting its blockade, ending the war on all fronts, and unfreezing Iranian assets. He said these conditions have not changed, and Iran will not make any concessions on issues concerning its rights.
Baghaei reiterated that Iran's position is clear: the United States must first stop its "interventionist and aggressive" actions.
