An art exhibition featuring works by renowned Chinese contemporary sculptor Gao Xiaowu has opened at Galaxy Promenade in Macao, inviting visitors to explore themes of dreams, personal growth, gratitude, and love.
Titled "Dream Voyage @ Galaxy Resort: Gao Xiaowu's Art Exhibition", the exhibition runs through Nov. 17 and presents six groups of Gao's works across five thematic chapters.
The exhibition takes visitors through different stages of pursuing and reflecting on dreams, from imagination and individuality to reconnecting with original aspirations, appreciating others, and expressing love.
The five chapters—"Dreams Begin," "Breaking the Mold," "Dreams Return," "Gratitude Shared" and "Love Expressed"—use Gao's sculptures to explore emotions and experiences drawn from everyday life.
The exhibition opened at Galaxy Promenade, with the opening ceremony attended by Cheng Wai-tong, acting director of the Macao SAR Government Tourism Office; Ho Hong-pan, head of the Department for Promoting Cultural and Creative Industries of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government; Philip Cheng, director of Galaxy Entertainment Group; Eileen Lui, group director of human resources and administration of Galaxy Entertainment Group; and Gao Xiaowu.
The exhibition also features works created through a collaboration between Galaxy Macau and the Macau Artist Society. Six emerging Macao artists, together with participating fashion and lifestyle brands at Galaxy Promenade, have reinterpreted Gao's iconic Future Dreams series in miniature sculptures.
The collaboration provides a platform for local artists to present their own interpretations of Gao's work, adding a local creative perspective to the exhibition.
Visitors can also participate in the "Colour Your Angel Workshop," where they can customize a miniature Future Dreams sculpture.
Gao, one of China's best-known contemporary sculptors, is known for drawing inspiration from the experiences, emotions and aspirations of ordinary people. His works often combine humor and warmth while exploring themes including urban life, social interaction and human connection.
Alongside the exhibition, Galaxy Macau is presenting another large-scale installation, "Dream Friend", at Pearl Lobby from Oct. 1 to Nov. 19.
The installation features a mechanical plush cat emerging from a giant suitcase, with programmed movements and interactions designed to engage visitors.
Through the combination of contemporary art, local creative participation, and lifestyle experiences, Galaxy Macau said the exhibition forms part of its efforts to support Macao's cultural and tourism development.
