Thailand's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation under the Ministry of Interior reported on Oct. 5 that since Sept. 16, multiple areas across Thailand have been hit by flooding, with the disaster at one point affecting 47 provinces nationwide as well as the capital, Bangkok. More than 1.45 million households and approximately 4.14 million people have been affected. In addition, the floods have caused 31 deaths.
As of Oct. 5, 26 provinces and parts of Bangkok still face flooding.
Thailand has experienced multiple rounds of heavy rainfall since Sept. 16, triggering widespread flooding. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration issued a warning on Sept. 29, saying that due to increased water volume from upstream, river levels in the Bangkok area may rise further in the coming days. Riverside communities and areas outside flood barriers need to closely monitor rising water levels.
