A traffic accident occurred in Wan Chai at around 2 pm today (Oct. 5), when a private car and a skip loader truck suddenly collided on the Canal Road Flyover near the entrance to the Cross-Harbour Tunnel heading towards Kowloon. The front of the private car was severely damaged, while the skip loader truck sustained relatively minor damage. Rescue personnel arrived at the scene and found the truck driver injured, who was treated on-site by paramedics. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
The Transport Department said that due to the traffic accident, some lanes at the Wan Chai Interchange (towards the Cross-Harbour Tunnel) near the sitting-out area at the tunnel entrance remain closed. In addition, all lanes of the Canal Road Flyover (towards North Point and the Cross-Harbour Tunnel) are fully closed. Motorists are advised to consider using alternative routes. Traffic in the area is currently congested.
