The Nobel Prize winners for 2026 are expected to be announced Oct. 5 to 12, with the Nobel Peace Prize scheduled for October 9.
Reuters reports that leaders from Cambodia, Israel, and Pakistan have nominated US President Donald Trump for this year's Peace Prize. Analysts, however, say his chances may be slim because the United States and Iran are currently at war, though Trump's global influence could still subtly affect deliberations.
Analysts said the five-member Nobel committee may also consider whether a potential laureate could withstand political pressure linked to Trump. For context, the 2025 Peace Prize went to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado.
