The East Dam and Po Pin Chau area drew many visitors on Oct 1, the first day of the National Day Golden Week. The AFCD has piloted a real-name reservation system for the Po Pin Chau section since Sept 5. DotDotNews reporter found crowd control effective and order good.
Reservations run from 9 am to 5 pm, with a 500-person quota every two hours and 2,000 daily. Staff checked QR codes at the trail entrance, while drones broadcast reminders. Visitors from Shenzhen and Fujian said the system was clear and easy to use.
AFCD Director Lai Kin-ming said about 440 people entered from 9 am to 11 am, near the 500 limit. LegCo members said the system worked and suggested promoting eco-tourism around Po Pin Chau. The AFCD will review the measures after Golden Week.
