The European Commission and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy have recently released an "annual report" containing numerous inaccurate and biased claims about the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Under the banner of "rule of law" and "human rights," the report makes unreasonable accusations and attacks the Hong Kong National Security Law, while ignoring the positive role this law has played in safeguarding national security, maintaining social order, and protecting citizens' lawful rights and interests.
For years, Western countries have often "added fuel to the fire" on Hong Kong-related issues. Now they are again using the health condition of Jimmy Lai—who is a major criminal accused of colluding with foreign forces and endangering national security—as a pretext to generate public pressure and interfere with the Hong Kong SAR's legally grounded handling of cases. This tactic disregards facts altogether and constitutes a blatant interference in China's internal affairs and Hong Kong SAR matters, fully exposing their intention to engage in political manipulation.
It's rather ironic: certain forces have "cared" about Jimmy Lai all along—caring whether he can continue to serve as a political pawn, and whether his case can be packaged into "ammunition" for attacks. If Jimmy Lai were to see these so-called "attentions" now, even if he were not ill before, he might be angered into illness!
