Stephen Curry, who led Team USA to the men's basketball gold medal at the Paris Olympics, made a surprise appearance at Leung Kau Kui College (LKKC) in Tuen Mun on Monday (Sept. 14), the final stop of his Asia tour.
Curry visited the school and took part in a basketball exchange with the school's basketball teams. He also officially launched the new "Curry Cup" HK inter-school basketball challenge.
At around 10:15 am, Curry arrived at LKKC to cheers and applause from teachers, students and fans gathered to catch a glimpse of the NBA legend. Upon arrival, Curry used his phone to capture the atmosphere and cheers at the scene, thanked those present and introduced himself in Cantonese as "Curry Jai".
The LKKC boys' basketball team then staged a five-on-five exhibition game, with Curry taking on the role of executive coach for both teams. He moved between the two sides, personally offering tactical guidance throughout the game.
Curry closely observed the players' movements and details during the match before offering targeted advice to them afterwards. The relaxed session had the feel of a street basketball game.
Curry later joined representatives from the winning team of the exhibition match and the girls' basketball team for a shooting challenge.
He remained virtually flawless throughout the challenge, inspiring several players to showcase their shooting skills and repeatedly find the basket, drawing cheers from the crowd.
During the event, Curry also interacted with students and shared his life experiences and advice with them.
