Three women have been charged with fighting in a public place following a dispute at apm mall in Kwun Tong, while one of them faces an additional charge of common assault.
The case, which involved a video showing an elderly woman pushing and repeatedly slapping a girl at the mall, was heard at Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts on Wednesday (Sept. 3).
The video, which showed the girl being slapped and falling to the ground, went viral online.
Police subsequently arrested three people, including the boy's mother and grandmother, as well as the mother of the girl who was allegedly assaulted.
All three were each charged with one count of fighting in a public place. The elderly woman was additionally charged with one count of common assault.
Acting Principal Magistrate adjourned the case to Nov. 5 following an application, allowing the defence time to obtain documents and discuss alternative ways of dealing with the case with the prosecution.
The three women were each granted HK$5,000 bail. They were ordered not to enter apm mall in Kwun Tong and not to contact prosecution witnesses.
All three are jointly charged with taking part in an unlawful fight in a public place at the atrium of apm mall on Aug. 26 this year.
The 68-year-old woman is additionally charged with assaulting the girl at the same location on the same day.
