Observatory to issue Standby Signal No. 1 at 6:10 pm. (DDN)

The remnant of Saudel is moving across the vicinity of the southeastern coast of Hainan Island. It is expected to intensify into a tropical depression again shortly. The Observatory will issue the Standby Signal No. 1 at 6:10 pm.

Saudel is expected to move across the northern part of the South China Sea from tomorrow to Wednesday (Sep. 1 and 2), and gradually edge closer to the coast of eastern Guangdong. Under the combined effect of Saudel and the northeast monsoon, it will be windier over Hong Kong from tomorrow afternoon to Wednesday. The Observatory will closely monitor its movement and the changes in local wind strength, and assess the need for issuing higher tropical cyclone warning signals by then.

Showers will be heavier over parts of the territory tomorrow. Members of the public should take note of the latest weather information issued by the Observatory before going out for school or work.
