Nepal Police said the death toll from flash floods in northern Nepal has risen to 616 as of 6 am on today (Aug 29).
The flash floods hit the Rasuwa area in northern Nepal on Aug 26. That same day, the Nepalese government designated several local administrative units in the affected areas as disaster-crisis zones for a three-month period under relevant laws. The measure is intended to help authorities coordinate rescue resources, tighten oversight of personnel, and accelerate post-disaster recovery.
