The Hong Kong Observatory said on Friday (Aug. 28) that tropical cyclone Saudel was moving across inland areas of eastern China and had entered within 800 kilometers of HK.

According to the latest forecast, Saudel will move into inland central China on Saturday (Aug. 29) and continue to weaken. It is expected to remain a considerable distance from HK and pose little direct threat to the city.

The Observatory said the chance of issuing a tropical cyclone warning signal is low unless Saudel takes a track closer to the Pearl River Estuary.

The Observatory expects more frequent showers in some parts of HK at the beginning of Saturday, with very hot conditions during the day.

Under the influence of a broad area of low pressure, the weather will remain unsettled on Sunday (Aug. 30) and Monday (Aug. 31).
