Taiwan's first motorcycle from Chinese mainland brand ZXMOTO, an 820RR, has recently been seized in a joint enforcement operation involving multiple authorities in Taiwan. Zhang Xue, the founder of ZXMOTO, said he would cover all legal fees for the owner seeking to defend his rights and vowed to send another motorcycle if the seized bike could not be recovered, saying he would "keep sending them until reunification."
According to reports, Wang Mao-sheng, the buyer of the motorcycle, traveled to Chongqing to experience the model in person before purchasing the motorcycle in Guangzhou. He then dismantled the bike into parts and shipped them to Taiwan in batches by sea.
After spending a month and a half manually reassembling it, he completed Taiwan's first Zhangxue 820RR. However, Taiwan authorities conducted a joint enforcement operation targeting the motorcycle on Aug. 11 and seized it at the scene.
Zhang Xue recently responded to the incident in a video posted on a short-video platform, saying he was unclear about the specific reason for the seizure. He advised the owner to seek legal assistance and said he would cover the relevant legal fees for the rights-defense effort.
"If we can't get the motorcycle back, I'll send another one. If that motorcycle is seized again, I'll send another one. I'll just keep sending them," Zhang Xue said. "Until when? Until reunification."
ZXMOTO is a mainland motorcycle brand established only two years ago. In March this year, it competed in the Superbike World Championship (WSBK), winning all six races with its 820RR-RS racing bike and subsequently attracting attention. The brand also plans to open a store in Taiwan no later than 2027.
Under current regulations in Taiwan, complete heavy motorcycles manufactured in the mainland, as well as engines and other major components, are among the items prohibited from import.
