A 19-year-old Japanese female tourist was robbed of HK$15,000 after being attacked inside a hotel room in Tsim Sha Tsui on Monday night (August 10).

The victim had met a male acquaintance through the messaging app WeChat and invited him to her room at a hotel on Nathan Road to chat.

During the visit, the suspect noticed the victim placing HK$15,000 in cash into the room's safe. Harboring ill intent, the man placed a plastic bag over her head and choked her neck before snatching the cash and fleeing the scene.

Hong Kong police are currently hunting for a Chinese male suspect aged between 30 and 40, approximately 1.75 meters tall. At the time of the incident, he was wearing dark clothing, a white cap, and a face mask.
