FIFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Argentina's football association and several players. The announcement came on Wednesday (July 29) over incidents at the 2026 World Cup.

The AFA faces charges over discriminatory chants by fans, delayed kick-offs, security violations, inappropriate messages, and objects thrown from stands. It also faces counts of non‑sporting conduct, team misconduct, and discrimination.

Separate proceedings target Leandro Paredes, Nahuel Molina, Thiago Almada, team official Roberto Ayala, and Spain's Gavi. Molina faces two assault charges (one attempted), Paredes three, and Ayala one. Molina, Almada, and Gavi are also cited for unsporting conduct.

All respondents have been given the chance to present their positions. FIFA will issue its final decisions after reviewing their cases.
