FIFA yesterday (July 22) announced the fan-voted Best XI for this year's World Cup. The lineup was determined through global voting on FIFA's official website. Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha made the cut, while England striker Harry Kane was not selected.
The Best XI adopts a 4-3-3 formation. Champions Spain and France each have three players selected, while runners-up Argentina have two. England, who achieved their best performance in 60 years, have only midfielder Jude Bellingham included, with captain Kane—who had an outstanding tournament—unfortunately missing out.
Notably, this year's World Cup Golden Glove winner, Unai Simón, who led Spain to the title and conceded just one goal throughout the entire tournament, was unexpectedly omitted. Instead, 40-year-old Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha took his place. Cape Verde were the surprise package of the tournament, and Vozinha delivered stellar performances in multiple matches. His brilliant saves and inspirational story made him a fan favourite, earning him the spot as the Best XI goalkeeper through overwhelming popular support.
