Take a journey aboard the China-Laos Railway, a landmark Belt and Road Initiative project.

We depart from Vientiane, the present capital of Laos, bound for Luang Prabang, the nation's ancient royal capital.

This episode takes you inside Vientiane Railway Station. Wander through the waiting hall, observe local customs including dedicated passageways for Buddhist monks, and notice the widespread use of Chinese language across signage and daily communications.

We board the train featuring China-standard carriages. Completed in 2021, the 1,035-kilometre railway turns landlocked Laos into a land-linked hub, facilitating cross-border travel and trade.

We chat with local train staff and witness the cultural integration along the route.

At the end of the video, we arrive at Luang Prabang Station. Stay tuned for our next chapter: a visit to the railway maintenance centre.
