As Noul continues to move further into the interior of Guangdong and away from Hong Kong, local winds are gradually subsiding. The Observatory announced that it will issue the Standby Signal No. 1 at 3:20 pm today (July 26).
When the threat posed by Noul to Hong Kong is eliminated, the Observatory will cancel all tropical cyclone warning signals, or replace them with the Strong Monsoon Signal.
The Observatory stated that under the influence of Noul, offshore areas in Hong Kong will still experience intermittent strong winds today, with gale-force winds persisting on high ground in the early part of the day. Its outer rainbands will continue to bring squally showers, thunderstorms, and occasionally heavy rain to the city for the remainder of today and into the early hours of tomorrow. Seas will remain rough with swells. Members of the public are advised to stay away from the shoreline and cease all water activities.
In the past hour, the maximum sustained wind speed recorded at Waglan Island was 52 kilometres per hour, with maximum gusts exceeding 67 kilometres per hour.
