Over 2,500 public submissions for Hong Kong's first Five-Year Plan have been received thus far, according to Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Secretary Janice Tse. Shortly after the plan's two-month public consultation, which began on June 15, reached its halfway point, she made the remark.
Speaking on a commercial radio show on Saturday (July 18), Tse stated that over thirty consultation sessions had also taken place, with Chief Executive John Lee leading around one-third of them. "Many of them offered opinions on areas covered in the six major parts of the public consultation document," Tse added. To distinguish them, we have employed artificial intelligence.
"Almost 1,200 of the submissions focused on people's livelihoods, but there were also submissions about innovation and technology, as well as the Northern Metropolis."
According to Tse, the government expects that the development strategy will finally persuade the population that their lives can only improve and make the SAR a desirable place to live and work. It will undoubtedly be people-oriented.
However, she also emphasized the need for infrastructure development because it directly affects people's livelihoods and is closely linked to social development.
For example, Tse stated that by creating a model for the university town and the Northern Metropolis, people, investors, and businesses will know exactly where opportunities are.
According to her, the Northern Metropolis and university town developments' infrastructure upgrades will also promote advancements in sectors like talent, education, and job prospects.
