AlipayHK announced on Sept. 15 that Hong Kong users can now book ride-hailing services in eight Southeast Asian countries directly via the AlipayHK app. The supported countries include Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar, with fares settled in HK dollars.
Starting today (Sept. 16), AlipayHK will launch a three-tiered promotional campaign for Grab ride-hailing services. These include up to HK$50 off the first ride, a 20% discount on the second ride, and a referral program offering shared discounts.
Grab, Southeast Asia's largest ride-hailing platform, has supported AlipayHK as a payment option since 2023. This new integration embeds Grab's ride-hailing services into the AlipayHK app, enabling users to compare multiple vehicle options and receive instant quotes converted into HK dollars.
Users can access the service via the "Travel+" section on the AlipayHK app homepage by selecting the "Overseas Ride-Hailing" feature and entering their pick-up and drop-off locations along with contact information. When users arrive in any of the supported Southeast Asian countries, the app's homepage will also automatically prompt them to use Grab ride-hailing services.
AlipayHK CEO Venetia Lee stated that AlipayHK actively supports ride-hailing platforms in HK and the Chinese Mainland. The collaboration with Grab further connects the ride-hailing networks across Southeast Asia. She added that AlipayHK will continue to expand partnerships with ride-hailing services in other regions and countries in the future.
