FIFA announced on July 16 that the 2026 World Cup champions will receive championship rings in addition to the trophy and gold medals.

This marks the first time in FIFA tournament history that championship rings will be awarded, introducing one of the most iconic traditions in American professional sports to world football.

FIFA stated that the championship rings are strictly limited edition, with a total of 2,026 rings — each individually numbered — as a tribute to this edition of the tournament. Thirty rings will be presented to the winning team, while the remaining 1,996 rings will be sold as official licensed merchandise to fans worldwide, allowing supporters to own a unique piece of World Cup history.

One side of the ring is engraved with the World Cup trophy, while the other side will be personalised for the winning team. Each ring is individually numbered, custom-made, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Following the final, the winning team's captain and head coach will receive temporary rings immediately to mark the moment. The 30 official rings will then be customised and presented to the championship team at a later stage.

The 2026 World Cup final will be held in New York on July 19 local time, with Spain set to face Argentina for the title.
