The Hong Kong Observatory downgraded the Red Rainstorm Warning Signal to the Amber Rainstorm Warning Signal at 9:25 a.m. on Thursday (July 16).
The Observatory had earlier issued the Red Rainstorm Warning Signal.
The Education Bureau announced that all morning-session and whole-day schools would be suspended for the day. Schools are required to remain open and implement contingency measures to care for students who have already arrived on campus. Parents are not required to rush to schools to pick up their children.
The bureau added that if the Observatory downgraded the warning to the Amber Rainstorm Warning Signal or cancelled all rainstorm warnings by 10:30 a.m., afternoon-session schools would resume classes as normal unless otherwise announced.
