The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) on Wednesday (July 15) warned that heavier rain is expected in parts of the city over the next one to two hours as a band of thunderstorms southwest of HK gradually moves closer.
The Thunderstorm Warning is currently in force.
The Observatory said an active southwesterly airstream is bringing showers to the coast of Guangdong and the northern part of the South China Sea. Around 10 millimetres of rainfall was recorded in many parts of HK this morning.
The city's weather is expected to be mainly cloudy with occasional showers and a few squally thunderstorms. Some areas may experience heavier rain at first. Daytime temperatures are forecast to reach a high of around 29 degrees Celsius, with moderate to fresh southerly to southwesterly winds.
