According to the National Bureau of Statistics, retail sales of services rose 5.3% in the first half of the year, outpacing retail sales of goods by 4.2%.
The cultural, tourism, and consumer markets maintained strong momentum. Over the first six months, retail sales of tourism consultation and rental services climbed 11.3% year-on-year, while those of cultural, sports and leisure services grew 10.4%. Revenues from tourism, sightseeing, and entertainment registered a 12.3% year-on-year increase.
Inbound consumption stayed red-hot. Around 17.82 million foreign tourists entered China under visa-free policies in the first half, marking a 30.6% jump. Meanwhile, offshore duty-free shopping transactions on Hainan Island reached RMB 19.9 billion, representing an 18.8% rise.
