The South Korean Supreme Court on July 9 upheld a seven-year prison term for former President Yoon Suk Yeol, confirming an earlier decision in the first top-court ruling tied to his 2024 attempt to impose martial law. The sentence was issued on charges including interfering with an arrest warrant.
The court rejected appeals from both Yoon and the special prosecutor, saying the grounds mainly disputed the lower court's factual findings and did not show any legal errors.
Yoon was not present in court for the ruling.
