Multinational convenience store chain 7-Eleven has filed a lawsuit against sportswear brand Nike in a US federal court in Texas, accusing Nike of copying 7-Eleven's iconic orange, green, and red stripe design for its new sneakers set to launch on July 11.

In the complaint, 7-Eleven claims that the colors used on Nike's upcoming Air Max 95 sneakers are likely to cause confusion among consumers, who may associate the design with the 7-Eleven brand. Furthermore, Nike has scheduled the release of the sneakers for July 11 — which coincides with 7-Eleven's annual promotional event, "7-Eleven Day."

The lawsuit also accuses Nike of displaying "callous and malicious disregard" for 7-Eleven's rights. 7-Eleven said it had made multiple attempts to resolve the dispute with Nike before filing the lawsuit, but Nike still planned to continue promoting and releasing the product on its scheduled July 11 launch date.

7-Eleven emphasized in a statement: "Given the unauthorized use of our brand — and the fact that the new shoes are set to launch in just a few days, on our 'birthday' of July 11 — we had to act quickly and decisively to protect our brand."

As of now, Nike has not responded to the lawsuit.
