Today, July 1, marks the 29th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland. To mark the occasion, we took to the streets to ask locals and visitors how they view the city's development since the return.

One overseas visitor said Hong Kong had exceeded expectations, praising its cleanliness, friendly people, efficient public transport and overall city experience, while offering congratulations to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

A local resident reflected on Hong Kong's journey since July 1, 1997, acknowledging the challenges faced during the early years of the HKSAR while saying the city has developed well over the past 29 years.

From first impressions to personal reflections, the interview captures a snapshot of Hong Kong's international image, urban governance, and social stability over the years.
