The estate of late singer CoCo Lee has filed a compensation claim in Hong Kong's District Court, alleging negligence by a psychiatrist, two paramedics and the Hong Kong Fire Services Department in connection with the events leading up to her death.
According to court records, the lawsuit was filed on June 24, with a hearing scheduled for Dec. 7 this year.
The plaintiff is Frances Wang Fang Chi, the executor of the estate of Lee Ferren May Lin, the birth name of CoCo Lee.
The defendants are psychiatrist Dr. Wong Wing San Josephine, Lao Tai Fung, Lo Hou On, and the Hong Kong Fire Services Department.
Court documents state that Dr. Wong was Lee's attending psychiatrist. Between August 25, 2022, and June 23, 2023, Lee attended consultations at the defendant's clinic or received medical consultations by telephone. The plaintiff alleges that Dr. Wong provided negligent treatment during that period.
The second and third defendants, who were serving as paramedics, are alleged to have provided negligent treatment while transporting Lee from Flat 5B, Barker Villa, 41 Barker Road, to Queen Mary Hospital on July 2, 2023.
The lawsuit further alleges that the Hong Kong Fire Services Department, as the employer of the two paramedics, bears liability for their actions.
CoCo Lee was found with a suspected wound to her left wrist at her residence in 2023 and suffered severe blood loss. She was taken to hospital for emergency treatment but was later pronounced dead.
