The three-day Dragon Boat Festival long weekend came to an end today (June 21), with various border control points seeing a surge of people returning to Hong Kong. The Transport Department issued a traffic alert for the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge at around 3:00 pm, stating that the vehicle clearance plaza at the Zhuhai Port (toward Hong Kong) is currently very busy.
According to the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge authority website, at around 4:30 pm, traffic from Zhuhai toward Hong Kong and Macao reached "extreme peak" levels. The queue at the inspection point stretched over 500 meters, with an estimated waiting time of over 40 minutes.
