Xia Baolong, director of the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, visited HK on June 16 and 17 for a research tour focused on the city's integration with the country's 15th Five-Year Plan and the development of the Northern Metropolis.

On June 16, Xia conducted inspections across the Northern Metropolis. His itinerary included visits to major development, housing, innovation and economic projects throughout HK.

In the morning, Xia visited the Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen New Development Area Community Liaison Centre, Hung Shui Kiu University Town Area, and Microelectronics Centre in Yuen Long InnoPark to learn about the overall planning of the Northern Metropolis and the progress of key development projects.

He also visited a Light Public Housing project on Yau Pok Road in Yuen Long, where he spoke with residents.

In the afternoon, Xia inspected the Kwu Tung North New Development Area to inspect the construction progress of housing, transport, government offices and other ancillary facilities in the area.

He later visited the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park in the Loop to learn about its overall development plan and latest position, as well as the construction progress of the Sandy Ridge Data Facility Cluster site.

Xia also visited the Central Government-Aided Emergency Hospital in the Lok Ma Chau Loop to inspect its operations.

In the evening, Xia visited AsiaWorld-Expo to learn about developments in HK's mega-event economy before departing HK and returning to Shenzhen.
