Hong Kong International Airport's Terminal 2 (T2) officially opened on May 27, with 15 airlines, including Hong Kong Airlines and Greater Bay Airlines, moving into the new terminal in phases. HK Express began its relocation to T2 in the early hours of today (June 10), with a total of 47 scheduled departing flights checking in passengers at Terminal 2.
Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan visited T2 this morning, together with HK Express CEO Jeanette Mao and Airport Authority Hong Kong CEO Vivian Cheung, to hand out souvenirs to passengers. Chan spoke with several travellers who were preparing to depart, and learned that both self-service and staffed check-in facilities were operating very smoothly.
Chan said she believes that with T2 now fully operational, Hong Kong International Airport's overall strength will be greatly enhanced. She expressed hope that all airlines will continue to develop exciting new routes for global travellers, taking everyone even further.
