After several days of high temperatures, the Hong Kong Observatory said on Tuesday (June 9) that a continental airstream will affect the coast of Guangdong on Wednesday (June 10), bringing a sharp drop in temperatures in HK to as low as 23°C.

The Observatory also forecast rainy conditions over the next nine days.

According to the weather forecaster, an easterly airstream will subsequently affect the Guangdong coast, bringing generally brighter weather over the following one to two days, although a few showers are still expected.

The Observatory said an active southwest monsoon and upper-air disturbances are expected to affect southern China from the weekend through the middle of next week. The region is forecast to experience periods of heavy showers and thunderstorms during that time.

In HK, weather conditions are expected to remain relatively sunny over the next two to three days, with a few showers.

Showers and thunderstorms are forecast for Saturday (June 13), while some areas may experience heavier rainfall on Sunday (June 14) and Monday (June 15), according to the Observatory.
