According to a report on June 2 from Table Tennis Worldmagazine, China's national table tennis team men's head coach Wang Hao announced at a team summary meeting that Wang Chuqin would become the captain of the men's team, with Liang Jingkun as the vice-captain. "We expect Wang Chuqin to carry forward the responsibility and mission of the captain and take the baton well from former captain Ma Long," Wang Hao said.

Previously, the position of men's team captain was held by Ma Long.

At 5:11 am Beijing time on May 11, the Chinese table tennis team secured their 12th consecutive men's team title at the World Team Table Tennis Championships in London, England. After helping the Chinese team win the championship, Wang Chuqin received the ITTF's London World Team Table Tennis Championships Men's Player of the Tournament award (Most Valuable Player).

According to the world rankings released by WTT (World Table Tennis) on May 25, Chinese player Wang Chuqin ranked first in men's singles.

Public reports show that Wang Chuqin was born in Jilin City, Jilin Province in May 2000. He is known for his left-handed shakehand grip playing style, combining looping with fast attack. In February 2025, he won the men's doubles title at the WTT Singapore Smash and the men's singles title at the ITTF-ATTU Asian Cup. In April 2026, he claimed his first men's singles World Cup title.
