Another local resident said, "I'm no longer supporting Brazil at the World Cup. I now support my national team — I support Haiti. I am very happy, all Haitians are very happy, that we have qualified for the 2026 World Cup."
With the World Cup opening day approaching, Haitians are buying the national team's jerseys on the streets to show their support. In the capital city of Port-au-Prince, banners cheering on the Haitian national team have been hung on the streets, alongside billboards calling for peace. Local residents say that the national team's qualification for the World Cup has brought hope to their difficult lives.
