Affected by Typhoon Jangmi, Japan's Okinawa region has been severely hit, with reports of uprooted trees and power outages. According to NHK, major domestic airlines in Japan have decided to cancel approximately 400 flights mainly operating to and from Okinawa on June 1, and over 160 flights will also be suspended on June 2. Four bus companies on the main island of Okinawa have also decided to suspend all public bus services on June 1.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, Typhoon No. 6 was located approximately 110 kilometers northwest of Amami City, Kagoshima Prefecture, at 9 a.m. on June 2, moving north-northeast at a speed of 25 kilometers per hour.

The typhoon has a central pressure of 975 hectopascals, with maximum sustained winds of 30 meters per second and maximum instantaneous wind speeds of 40 meters per second. Within an area of 185 kilometers to the east of the center and 130 kilometers to the west, winds exceeding 25 meters per second are blowing.

Currently, the Amami region of Kagoshima Prefecture has entered the storm zone, while well-developed rain clouds are present over the Kyushu region. In the one hour leading up to 8 am, a heavy rainfall of 32 millimeters was recorded in Kinko Town, Kagoshima Prefecture.

Wind speeds are also gradually increasing. In the three hours up to 8 am, the maximum instantaneous wind speed reached 30.9 meters per second in Kasari, Amami City, Kagoshima Prefecture.

There is a possibility of linear precipitation bands occurring in southern Kyushu and the Amami region, which could lead to a sharp increase in disaster risk.
