On the morning of June 1 local time, John Lee, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, led a delegation consisting of more than 40 Hong Kong business and professional representatives and around 30 Mainland enterprise representatives, all of whom have arrived in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana, to begin a five-day official visit to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. During a group photo session, the Chief Executive encouraged the delegation members, expressing his hope that through this overseas visit, both destinations would come to regard the delegation as a valuable resource.

Before the official visit, John Lee encouraged and cheered the delegation members, expressing his hope that this trip would create an environment and conditions for both sides. He said he hoped everyone would understand that this opportunity was rare. He hoped that the delegation could become a resource and opportunity for the other side, so that the governments, enterprises, and people of both places would see them as their resource.

John Lee stressed the importance of teamwork, pointing out that everyone present was a successful person with their own experience and aspirations, but that team spirit was very important. He said that one plus one is greater than two, and that when more than 70 people were added together, there was no need to calculate — it would be a tremendous force.

John Lee further pointed out that everyone should be energetic and high-spirited every day. He said that their delegation was large in number and that during the visit, they should unite and always do their work well.

John Lee posted on social media that this is the largest overseas delegation of the current-term government, bringing together elites from various industries in Hong Kong and the mainland. The Hong Kong representatives come from major chambers of commerce, finance and professional services, infrastructure, real estate, energy, technology and innovation, media, and other fields; the mainland representatives cover sectors such as technology and innovation, pharmaceuticals, high-end manufacturing, and the automotive industry.

John Lee stated that they would jointly explore the unlimited potential of Central Asia, gain an in-depth understanding of this dynamic emerging market, exchange ideas through cross-sectoral dialogue, and achieve win-win outcomes through complementary advantages. He believed that this journey would surely yield fruitful results, opening a new chapter for long-term economic and trade cooperation among Hong Kong, the mainland, and Central Asia.

The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is leading a business and trade delegation to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, which has set a record in terms of both the number of participants and the breadth of industries represented since the current-term SAR government took office. The delegation includes Mainland industry leaders, all poised to bring abundant opportunities and resources to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
