Chief Executive John Lee led a business delegation departing this morning (May 31) for a visit to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. After greeting the reporters at the airport with "Good morning, everyone," he then went into the departures hall.
Regarding the itinerary, Lee will first visit Kazakhstan and then travel to Uzbekistan on June 3. He is scheduled to return to Hong Kong on June 6. During his absence, Chief Secretary for Administration Chan Kwok-ki will serve as the Acting Chief Executive.
The delegation comprises more than 40 representatives from Hong Kong in business and the professions, along with around 30 representatives from Mainland enterprises. Coverage spans a wide range of sectors, including industry and commerce, finance, law, construction engineering, logistics, innovation and technology, high-end manufacturing, and the automobile industry.
Earlier, John Lee said that the Central Asian region is developing rapidly, with abundant natural resources and substantial market potential. He noted that there is broad room for cooperation with Hong Kong. During the visit, he will meet with senior officials of both countries, while also leading the delegation to establish links with the local business community, to promote Hong Kong's strengths to expand its commercial network, and through visits to local enterprises and facilities, understand the latest developments and explore opportunities for cooperation.
