Hong Kong welcomed its first-ever "Comic Con" on May 29, bringing the internationally known pop-culture event to the city for the first time. Several Hollywood stars appeared at the event, including Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen, Christopher Lloyd, Giancarlo Esposito, and Daniel Logan, according to local media coverage.
Actor and producer Louis Koo—a long-time anime and comics fan—served as the event's ambassador and is also the head of co-organizer One Cool Group. Koo thanked the organizer for the invitation and joked that he could have shown up in cosplay as popular characters such as Darth Vader or Spider-Man, but colleagues worried he might look too stern—turning him into Doctor Doom instead.
Koo said the team had overcome many challenges over the past few months to make the inaugural Hong Kong edition happen. He encouraged attendees to share feedback and expressed hope that Comic Con could continue to be held in Hong Kong in the future.
The report also noted that Comic Con originated in San Diego, the United States, and was founded in 1970, becoming a major annual gathering for global pop culture—showcasing the latest in animation, superheroes, and sci-fi films, and attracting renowned comic artists and popular film and TV stars.
For Hong Kong's edition, the event offered one-day and three-day tickets. General one-day tickets were priced at HK$150 (adult) and HK$80 (children aged 10 or below). General three-day tickets were HK$380 (adult) and HK$200 (children aged 10 or below), while a three-day premium pass cost HK$680 (same price for adults and children). Tickets were available via Trip.com, Klook, and Experience 11.
