The Hong Kong Observatory said today (May 25) that an anticyclone aloft is bringing generally fine weather to the coast of Guangdong. The afternoon maximum temperature in Hong Kong reached 32 degrees Celsius, the highest recorded so far this year.

The Observatory forecasts that from tomorrow through the next four days (May 26 to 29), the maximum temperature in Hong Kong could reach 33 degrees Celsius. A trough of low pressure will approach the coast of South China near the weekend, bringing increasingly unstable weather to the region, with showers and thunderstorms. Meanwhile, an easterly airstream will affect the Guangdong coast from the weekend into next week, causing temperatures in the region to drop slightly.
