On May 24, the Long March 2F Y23 carrier rocket, carrying the Shenzhou-23 manned spacecraft, ignited and launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre. About ten minutes later, the spacecraft successfully separated from the rocket and entered its designated orbit. The astronaut crew was in good condition, and the launch was a complete success.
After the manned spacecraft successfully docked with the space station combination, the Shenzhou-23 astronaut crew smoothly moved from the spacecraft's return module into the orbital module. At 5:13 am on May 25, the Shenzhou-21 astronaut crew, who were already in orbit, opened the "home door" to welcome the long-distance arriving Shenzhou-23 astronaut crew aboard China's space station. This marked the 8th "space rendezvous" in China's aerospace history and the first time the Tiangong space station has hosted an astronaut from Hong Kong.
