Hong Kong singer Miriam Yeung joked that she had "given birth" to a daughter, referring to the launch of her newly created intellectual property (IP) character "Am'miri," which made its global debut as a limited-time pop-up store at MixC Shenzhen Bay on May 15.
The pop-up store quietly "came into the world" early in the morning. Yeung said: "I've waited so many years, I finally have a daughter. Torres has a little sister now!"
However, the "birth" process was not simple. The original event was scheduled for the afternoon, but after arriving in Shenzhen, organizers learned that large crowds of fans and members of the public were preparing to gather, raising concerns over crowd control. The event was then rescheduled to 8:30 a.m. at short notice.
Yeung said: "In the end, I had to wake up at 5:30 a.m. the night before to do my makeup and hair. Even giving birth doesn't require waking up this early, but when I gave birth to my son back then, I also went to the hospital early in the morning, so I had the feeling of preparing to 'give birth' to a daughter all morning!"
The character "Am'miri" was actually an idea from her husband, Real Ting. Yeung revealed: "It was actually Mr. Ting's idea, hoping to share life philosophies with everyone. We ended up collaborating on it together, and it took three years to complete. Seeing it launched today makes me very happy."
The character, featuring light purple hair, elf-like ears and pure white wings, represents the inner child within everyone and is designed as a gentle guardian of one's innocence. Yeung said: "I hope Am'miri will appear when you need it most and heal you with gentleness."
At the opening event, Yeung introduced the five emotional traits behind "Am'miri" — companionship, love, acceptance, tolerance and courage. She said her personal favourite is "courage," adding: "The word 'courage' must always be in your heart. Even if you fall, there is nothing to fear!"
The pop-up store is free to enter and will run until May 27, serving as a warm-up for Yeung's concerts in Shenzhen on May 23–24.
