The Trump administration is inviting chief executives from major US companies, including Nvidia, Apple, Exxon Mobil and Boeing, to accompany US President Donald Trump on a visit to China next week, according to a Reuters report cited by Observer Network on May 7.
Executives from Qualcomm, Blackstone, Citigroup, and Visa are also reportedly on the invitation list. Sources said several CEOs received invitations on the evening of May 6 local time.
One source familiar with the matter confirmed that Jane Fraser, chief executive officer of Citigroup, had received an invitation. Qualcomm confirmed that it had received an invitation but declined to comment further.
The White House, Visa, Apple and Citigroup did not respond to requests for comment, while Nvidia, Blackstone and Boeing declined to comment.
Kelly Ortberg, Boeing's chief executive officer, said in April that the company was counting on the Trump administration to help finalize a long-anticipated major aircraft order from China.
Chinese and US aircraft manufacturers have been engaged in lengthy negotiations over the potential deal. Industry sources said the order could include 500 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and dozens of wide-body jets, marking China's first large-scale Boeing purchase since 2017.
