During the May Day Golden Week holiday (May 1 to May 5), Hong Kong recorded more than 5.622 million passenger trips across all immigration control points, according to data from the Immigration Department.
The figure was lower than the previously estimated 6 million crossings.
Among them, inbound mainland visitors exceeded 1.011 million, surpassing the earlier official forecast of 980,000. Meanwhile, more than 1.504 million HK residents departed the city during the same period.
May 2 marked the peak day for mainland visitor traffic, with over 263,000 arrivals and more than 250,000 departures recorded.
On the first day of the holiday (May 1), the highest number of HK residents left the city, with more than 430,000 departures in a single day.
The largest number of returning residents was recorded on May 3, when over 481,000 people came back to HK.
