Hong Kong's Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) announced on May 1 via its "Enjoy Hiking" website that visitor numbers at the East Dam of High Island Reservoir have become extremely heavy.
As of 12:00 p.m., more than 1,000 visitors were recorded at the site. Crowd control measures have been implemented on the Po Pin Chau section of the High Island Geo Trail.
The AFCD urged visitors to plan their trips carefully, allow sufficient time for transportation, and follow instructions from on-site staff.
Visitors are also advised to remain patient while queuing and to consider visiting alternative attractions.
