A southerly airflow is affecting the South China coast. In addition, the cold front located inland in Guangdong is bringing sudden showers and thunderstorms to the area. The Hong Kong Observatory expects that the cold front will cross the Guangdong coast around evening.
In Hong Kong, there will be brief sunshine this morning (May 3). In the afternoon, the number of sudden showers will increase, with strong winds and thunderstorms. Rainfall may be heavier in some areas. By evening, temperatures will gradually fall to a low of about 21°C by tomorrow morning (May 4).
The Observatory forecasts that today will be generally cloudy with a few showers. There will be brief sunshine in the morning, and the daytime maximum temperature will be around 29°C. Winds will be light and southerly.
In the afternoon, sudden showers will become more frequent, with strong winds and thunderstorms, and heavier rain in some places. Winds will gradually ease and turn more northerly, with occasional periods of stronger breeze. By night, temperatures will gradually drop, reaching a low of about 23°C at midnight.
Tomorrow and Tuesday will still have a few sudden showers. It will be slightly cooler in the morning, with minimum temperatures around 21–22°C. Over the following two to three days, temperatures will gradually rise.
