According to CCTV News, in response to US President Donald Trump's claim that he would impose a 25% tariff on European Union (EU) cars, Bernd Lange, Chairman of the European Parliament's Committee on International Trade, said on May 1 local time that Trump's actions are "unacceptable."
He criticized the US for repeatedly violating agreements and said this latest move exactly proves how unreliable the US is.
Lange also stated that the European Parliament is advancing relevant legislative work, having formed a parliamentary stance, to complete it by June this year.
It is reported that Trump said on May 1 that because the EU has not complied with the agreement, he would impose tariffs on EU cars, claiming that this move would prompt companies to shift production to the United States.
